Role purpose: 

 

M-PESA Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that build the M-PESA brand and drive customer engagement across Ethiopia. The ideal candidate will lead brand positioning, integrated marketing campaigns, creative development, and marketing communications, working closely with internal stakeholders and agency partners to deliver compelling, culturally relevant, and consistent brand experiences across ATL and other marketing channels.

 



Responsibilities

Role purpose: 
1. Brand Management
 

  • Lead the implementation of the M-PESA brand strategy and ensure consistent application of the brand identity across all marketing initiatives. 

  • Manage brand guidelines, messaging frameworks, and visual identity standards to ensure consistency across customer touchpoints. 

  • Coordinate the development of marketing assets that reflect the M-PESA brand and resonate with Ethiopian consumers. 

  • Monitor brand performance and recommend improvements to strengthen brand awareness and equity. 

2. Marketing Campaign Development & Execution

  • Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across ATL and other approved marketing channels in line with business priorities.

  • Develop campaign briefs, messaging, creative concepts, and marketing materials in collaboration with internal stakeholders and agency partners. 

  • Coordinate campaign delivery across television, radio, print, out-of-home (OOH), experiential, and other marketing channels. 

  • Monitor campaign performance and recommend optimizations based on customer insights and campaign results

 

3. Creative Development & Agency Management

  • Manage relationships with creative, media, production, and research agencies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality marketing campaigns. 

  • Review creative concepts and campaign materials to ensure alignment with M-PESA brand standards and campaign objectives. 

  • Support the development of compelling storytelling, taglines, scripts, and other marketing content that enhances customer engagement. 

  • Ensure all marketing materials maintain consistent tone, messaging, and visual identity. 

 

4. Brand Insights & Performance

  • Monitor brand health, campaign effectiveness, and market trends using customer research and performance data. 

  • Support customer and market research activities to understand consumer behaviour, brand perception, and campaign effectiveness. 

  • Provide recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness based on campaign results and market insights. 

  • Track marketing KPIs and prepare regular reports to support decision-making. 

 

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Go-to-Market, Digital Marketing, PR & Communications, Sales, Customer Operations, Partnerships, and Commercial teams to ensure effective execution of marketing initiatives. 

  • Support product launches and commercial campaigns by developing customer-facing marketing communications and campaign assets. 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure marketing activities align with customer needs, business objectives, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver a consistent and engaging M-PESA brand experience.

  • Successful execution of integrated marketing campaigns.

Qualifications

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

 

  • Experience: 5–7 years in marketing, brand management, or integrated marketing communications.

  • Brand & Campaign Management: Proven experience in brand building and integrated marketing campaigns.

  • Creative & Agency Management: Strong creative development and agency management skills.

  • Consumer Insights: Ability to use research and data to improve marketing performance.

  • Stakeholder Management: Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams and partners.
