Responsible for day-to-day activities of the implementation and the assessment of the project. This position has the role of implementing, following up, and monitoring of implementation of project activities within respective woredas, and securing commitments and accountability for the integrated multi-sector project results in the implementation area. The Officer is responsible for ensuring the multi-sectoral approach and complementarity of interventions of the project towards the intended protection outcomes of the project, ensuring close collaboration and coordination of activities implemented by local partners.

Job specific roles and responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide safe and efficient driving. Provides transport service to SC staff members, visitors or daily errands as assigned by Logistic and Admin Officer. Prepare and submit monthly vehicle usage report to the Logistic and Admin Officer. Keep up to date data on the fuel consumption. Use log sheet for the day to day movement and should be familiar with safety and security guidelines of Save the Children. Timely and quality implementation of project activities
- Receive the vehicle with its accessories by hand-over documents and signs hand-over formats for receipt of vehicle with its accessories
- Providing transport service to staff, visitors and guests.
- Handles clients with due care and respect. Respects the faith and culture of different communities
- Respects the rules and regulations of departure and arrival hours according to logistic manual
- Handles confidential matters with due care and in consultation with senior staff.
- Maintains records of logbook for all journeys undertaken, fuel consumed, repair costs and ensures the logbook is available for inspection at any time
- Before starting the vehicle’s engine each day, checks the level of engine oil, radiator, and windscreen washer water are adequate, etc.
- On weekly basis, checks the level of brake and clutch oil, battery water and the pressure of tires is at the proper levels, and also ensures that all lights and indicators are working properly
- Ensures that the assigned vehicle is not driven by another person unless authorized
- Maintaining all safety and security measures to the vehicle under his/her care.
- Ensuring that the vehicle assigned to him/her is clean, fueled, lubricated and regularly serviced as per schedule.
- Keeps all tools and reserve tyre with due care. Handles the vehicle and other related accessories and materials with due care
- Cleans seat belts each day and wears the same all times and insists all passengers to do the same
- Carry out minor vehicle maintenance at specified intervals and keep thorough maintenance logos for each vehicle.
- Have the Save the Children logo visibly displayed on all Save the Children vehicles, except where this would jeopardize staff safety or be inappropriate to specific local circumstances.
- Park in safe and secure areas all Save the Children vehicles during working and non-working hours. Parks the vehicle in safe place during night.
- Undertakes minor repair of the vehicle
- Report accidents as occurred immediately
- Adheres to rules and regulations of Save the Children.
- Respects the traffic rules and regulations strictly
- Performs other related tasks as required
- Transports materials to respective destinations. Gives due care for the materials while loading and unloading.
- Requests repair and lavajo service by filling forms and formats designed for repair and maintenance service for the vehicle on time. Checks the vehicle for repair and maintenance made by the garage against repair order.
- Knowledge of the area where the post is located.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential:
- Completion of 12th grade under the previous education system or Grade 10 under the current education system.
- Possession of a valid third-grade driving license or equivalent (including the new driving license system).
- Training in Safety and Security.
- Completion of 4WD and defensive driving training.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience with International NGOs, with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work during weekends, holidays, and in challenging climatic conditions.
- Basic computer skills are an asset.
- Experience in vehicle maintenance is an asset.
- Experience in liaison and logistical activities is an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in difficult environments.
- Ability to communicate in English and understand written English texts.
- Proficiency in Afar language is mandatory.
- Commitment to SCI’s aims, values, and principles.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY
- Position holder must have good interpersonal skills & excellent team player
- Knowledge of the local language (Afar language)
